Anunnaki – Two Treatise On Gnostic Thought is a reissue of the exceedingly rare early LP originally limited to 111 copies. It is now being resurrected with a new vinyl reissue from Cardinal Fuzz and NoiseAgonyMayhem Records to be released on April 29th 2022.
Anunnaki – Two Treatise On Gnostic Thought is in line with the bands current sound and philosophy. This album present two songs each over 15 minutes in length with doom, distortion and atmospheric sections flowing together. The band has a focus on the ancient world and its occult and magical mysteries. These themes give the sound a context and deepen intrigue and speculation around the albums meanings.
The first song is called ‘The Poimandres Of Hermes Trismegistus’ and the second is ‘The Valentian Speculation‘. Both tracks are slow boiling songs that start soft and expansive and become heavy and doom laden by the end. Anunnaki has a unique sound that can become the heaviest hardest hitting music on Earth. They are dynamic going from relative calm and tension to all out slamming heavy doom stoner rock. These softer sections make the build up to the climax more exciting and impactful.
Anunnaki consists of Arlen Thompson (Wolf Parade) and Dave Reed (Moths and Locusts, El Hombre Al Aqua). Anunnaki is one the favorite heavy rockers here at the psych rock. Their most recent albums have been very heavy and psychedelic and represent an evolution from this original foundation on Two Treatise On Gnostic Thought. That said, Two Treatise On Gnostic Thought is a thrilling album that has been rare and difficult to attain. This new blood red vinyl reissue is remastered with new artwork bringing the whole package to a new level.
