Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats Wasteland

Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats Wasteland

8.5 Out Of 10

Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats released Wasteland on Rise Above Records in October 2018, near Halloween. This Cambridge based band lays into heavy Sabbath worship with creepy occult rock and psychedelic horror. The two guitars oscillating between blissful dual guitar leads, hard riffs and ripping fast arpeggios.  The thick bass lines and hard hitting drums lay a firm foundation. The treble boosted vocals harken back to Ozzy Osbourne but are unique and often harmonized in 70’s rock glory. The lyrics, like the music are spiced with vintage horror film themes.

Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats Tour 2018

Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats formed in 2010 by Kevin Starrs, Wasteland is their 5th  album. It is receiving high acclaim from critics, fans and unsuspecting new initiates into the Occulted circle of rock delights. Originally, they described themselves as descendants of the school of Black Sabbath, The Stooges and Alice Cooper but Uncle Acid goes far beyond integrating psychedelic rock, thrash, late 70’s hard rock, and shades of doom and black metal.

Wastleland is awesome, it contains all the best elements of their previous releases with a slightly mainstream heavy metal appeal. It is turning heads outside the stoner rock music scene and bringing this style of aggressive psychedelic horror rock into the heavy metal sphere.  They do so without compromising the essence of the band and their sound. Wasteland is a direct decent of the previous album Night Creeper and continues their progression toward heavier riffs and progressive arrangements.

Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats

Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats Wasteland receives a 8.5 out of 10. The recording quality is excellent and pristinely captures all the distored and fuzzy glory of their signature sound. The songs are exciting with skilled guitar work and driving rhythms. This is a great album! It lost points because it’s a little heavier than my normal jam, Night Creeper kicks-ass and I never saw them live.
