Kikagaku Moyo’s music glides through rich and varied vistas in a way no one else can replicate. They ride the waves of dynamic like a surfer feeling the push and pull of the tide until they can sail high and free skimming the liquid waves of nature. The feeling of spacious freedom prevails with a rich sub level of mysterious surrealism which bubbles up to the surface again and again.

The guitar work is diverse and exciting! The two guitars players merge as one mind with interlocking riffs inspired by cosmic space rock, folk, 70’s wah explosions, and shoe gaze dreamscapes.

The rhythm section is tight and expressive. The bass is deep and danceable tapping into electronic and kosmisch tonal pallets throughout the album. The drummer is dynamic and nuanced. The drum and bass are intimately linked to create a driving groove that sets the tempo for neopsychedelia to come.

The album opens with ‘Entrance’ a vigorous electric sitar raga opening the portals to some wonderful musical adventure. Indeed, this album is a journey through pathways both ancient and contemporary.

‘Gatherings’ is the first single from Masana Temple and shows off all the best elements of the album in one track. The song has soft vocals, tight luscious rhythms, clean and fuzzy guitars. The transitions are masterful and natural yet unpredictable like the labyrinth of consciousness these songs emerged from. Once the amps heat up Kikagaku Moyo takes the listener into outer space with the most climatic leads and driving energy.

Kikagaku Moyo Masana Temples is a great album featuring the next evolution of sound.

Retracing and redefining all the compositional elements past to create a new album which goes beyond. They struck a balance between the softer shoe gaze / psych folk sounds and energetic experimental rock. Inspired by their long and continuous world traveling (touring) the album has a global feel that rests firmly on their Japanese identity.
