Carlton Melton – Where This Leads is an album with extended meditative electric guitar tracks and several burning hot heavy psych songs. The album is all about the electric guitar whether it is echoing and with shimmering atmospheric reverb or heavy blues psych Rock guitar solos. The album runs of over a hour giving plenty of great songs to enjoy.
Carlton Melton – Where This Leads finds itself in the meditative layered guitar zone. With rhythm guitar tracks on loop and free improvisation over the top. The chill tracks are very enjoyable and a wonderful contrast to the heavy psych rockers which also kick ass. His soundscapes sketch a vast expanse with open spacious tones that reach into the distance. The sound of the mellow tracks has a resonance with the American Primitive Folk style except with electric guitar effects. There is a naturalist pastoral feel to the meditative tracks that is very pretty.
Carlton Melton – Where This Leads is not all a relaxing wash of sound. On several tracks he turns the amp to max and blasts out heavy overdrive fuzz guitar solos that are in the style of Earthless and heavy psychedelic blues. These track rip and create an strong juxtaposition against the slower tracks. The heavy stuff gets into groove oriented riffs fuzzy bass and drums. The dark drudging grind of the rhythm section is accented with continuous fast guitar solos laced with wah wah and smooth fuzz.

Carlton Melton is from Northern California USA and features members Andy Duvall (drums, guitar), Clint Golden (bass), and Rich Millman (guitar, synths).
They released their first album in 2010 and have since released several studio albums, live performances and collaborations. They are known for their inspired free jam live performances. The previous album was released in 2018 called Mind Minerals. Where This Leads is the eight full length studio album from the band and it stays true to their roots while expanding on their kosmische chops.
