Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. Pink Lady Lemonade Double Street Sucker Punch was released in July 2020 on Max Hazard Records!

Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. Pink Lady Lemonade Double Street Sucker Punch features far out acid folk, spacey freaky acid rock.

Acid Mothers Temple releases several records a year since 1996. They are legends of underground psychedelic rock and otherworldly experimental rock, noise and acid folk. Kawabata Makoto is the band leader and also has collaborated with hundreds of artist and on countless albums including his solo albums.

Acid Mothers Temple sets out on extensive tours each year however, all dates for 2020 have been canceled due to covid-19. But, fear not they have brought to you many new albums in 2020 many of which are some of the most accessible and “refined” of all their work and you can still get that awesome poster or Tshirt!

Pink Lady Lemonade Double Street Sucker Punch is an exceptional album with two long versions of Pink Lady Lemonade one live and one studio recorded with Geoff Leigh on flute. ‘Pink Lady Lemonade‘ has appeared on many of their albums over the years in new forms but was first heard on the 1997 self-titled release. This song has been an essential part of their sound since the beginning.

Side A has the songs ‘Lemon Ecstacy Pink Lady Lemonade Streetheart Sucker Punch‘. Jyonson Tsu starts it off with space folk ecstasy with a unique voice and otherworldly instrumentation which sets it apart from other versions. The iconic guitar part kicks in at half speed for a slow rise. Later the whaling guitar of Kawabata Makoto kick in displaying his signature guitar style taking the listener into the other worlds.

Side B has a very clean live version which they titled ‘Pink Lady Lemonade You’re Hyper Street Sucker Punch’. It perfectly captures the high energy live sound of the band. It was recorded in December on 2012. It kicks off with the mantric guitar part that we have all heard at AMTs live concerts. This rendition has energized drum and bass which make the music move into a motorik beat with the repeating echoing guitar lines it channels the signals of space. Then the guitar solo kicks in.

Kawabata Makoto‘s guitar style uses vintage big muff fuzz, reverb and echo through cranked amps. He creates out of this world tones by using the vibrato on the guitar, bending the strings, using insane rhythms in the picking pattern and playing off the echoes and reverb.

He has created a new signature style of playing the guitar and this album captures it beautifully.
