L.A. Witch Octubre

8 Out of 10

L.A. Witch came creeping with a surprise Halloween EP titled Octubre from Suicide Squeeze Records. L.A. Witch has serious style with their punk-goth-desert rock vibe. The guitars are vintaged with jangling peaks and blown out tones that can melt the coldest heart. The rhythm section plays at a steady stroll which harkens back to Link Wray‘s “Rumble” and Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made For Walking”. The plotting instruments build and deconstruct spiraling off into experimental moments. The vocals are strong with a forceful attack and dense disinterested punk rock slur. This album has so much attitude that just listening lends an invisible cloak of swagger.
L.A. Witch has made their career playing live on all over the globe. In 5 years they released four 7″ Vinyl singles and after 3 years of non-stop touring they signed with Suicide Squeeze Records. The label has enabled them to record and release Octubre which contains old songs which never saw the light of the hallowed autumn moon. Professional studio sessions have given them more clarity and power without losing the vintaged sun-bleached tones that they love.

L.A. Witch Octubre gets an 7.5 out of 10 for its’ undeniable ultra-cool desert rock vibe. The instruments sound awesome and the performances are excellent. The band as a whole is playing old songs but they sound better than ever. Released digitally Nov. 2nd on pumpkin Orange Vinyl come March 2019. L.A. Witch is so amazing!!!!!
