Dreamweapon – Rites of Lunacy was released on January 29th 2021 on Cardinal Fuzz and Little Cloud Records.
Dreamweapon – Rites of Lunacy is a hypnotic dark krautrock album with droning tribal music. Their layered compositions have a driving rhythmic foundation that is established with echo trails, throbbing bass, and distant percussion instruments. The vocal arrangements are drenched in effects and serve as an atmospheric element that enhances the ominous tone of Rites Of Lunacy.
Dreamweapon – Rites of Lunacy pulses and drives forward with continuous tension and half step modal shifts that make for a dissonant feel. The sound is dystopian and moody with brooding low end that surrounds the sound in continuous rumbling bass. The songs have repeating sections that slowly evolve through each track drawing from the stoner rock style riffage but without a chugging guitar.

Dreamweapon is a three piece band from Portugal and Rites of Lunacy is the 7th full-length album from this underground band. Their first Ep was released in 2013 and they put out 4 albums in 2020. Rites of Lunacy is my personal favorite from this prolific and challenging year. Their previous album Sol was released on Fuzz Club and Rites Of Lunacy is with Cardinal Fuzz and Little Cloud Records.
Dreamweapon – Rites of Lunacy is a dark album with great recording quality and excellent sound. It sends the listener down the rabbit hole into the dark caverns of the unconsciousness human collective. The pain, misery and death of the human experience combines with the dying world we live in for a nightmarish effect. This effect is even more powerful due to the well composed music and recording and mix.
Dreamweapon lives up to its name on Rites Of Lunacy and presents a dark dream like consciousness that envelops the listener. The music is mind altering casting a trace and guiding the listener into the darkness.
