Sherpa Tigris & Euphrates

7.7/10

Tigris & Euphrates is Sherpa’s follow-up album to the debut Tanzlinde both from Sulatron Records. Based in Italy, Sherpa explores shoegaze ambiance with psychedelic guitar. Tigris & Euphrates is a reflection on language communication and human evolution. The music is brooding gloomy with dense bass lines and echoing single note guitar lines. The vocals are soft almosted hummed, whispered and melt into the gentle waves of music.

The music is ambient shoegaze rock which slowly and beautifully engrosses the listener in waves of lush reverb and echo.  They do kick on the fuzz and distortion at selected points to create a dark atmosphere as heard in the second half on “Abscent to the Mother of Language” and “Decent of Ihanna to the Underworld”.  Matteo Dossena is the lyricist and composer for all the music on the album.

Sherpa Tigris & Euphrates is a chill album with wonderful atmosphere and soothing sounds. It washes over the ears like a gentle warm wave tinted with prisms and journeys to the underworld.
