Karkara Nowhere Land

8.7 / 10 Psychedelic Space Rock

Karkara Nowhere Land was released on November 13th 2020 on Stolen Body Records.

Karkara Nowhere Land is incredible psychedelic rock with space rock, krautrock and stoner sounds. Nowhere Land has a mystical theme about a space traveler entering a new land and discovering mysterious peoples. The music is raw and pulses with electricity, eastern tinged riffs and exotic tones.

Karkara Nowhere Land is a fuzz rock album start to finish with spacey sections that launch the listener into space. The pulsing locked in rhythms are entrancing evoking fuzzy guitar that blasts off into a frenzy. Swirling effects, echo, didgeridoo and eastern scales give the album wonderful texture and special character.

Karkara is a three piece band from Toulouse, France. Their debut album Crystal Gazer was released in October of 2019 on Stolen Body Records. Nowhere Land is the follow-up and it picks up where they left off traveling the mystical rock roadways deeper into to cosmic territories. Karkara is Karim Rihani on guitar vocal and didgeridoo, Hugo Olive on bass, and Maxime Marouani on drums and vocals.

Karkara Nowhere Land is great energized psychedelic rock. The funky guitar parts remind me of some of the King Gizzard music with fast picked eastern scales and rocking wahwah guitar lines. The guitar tones are overdriven with a vintage vibe. The dramatic cuts into heavier distrotion for accent and then the wah tones make for a far-out combination.

The album has synth and didgeridoo for buzzing low end that is out of this world. The music brings to mind King Gizzard, Oh Sees, The WRS, SLIFT and other neo-psychedelic garage and heavy psych bands. The staccato vocals that follow the melody of the guitar is another feature that sounds very cool.

The opening track ‘Deliverance’ has the most King Gizz vibes. ‘The Witch‘ has the darkest themes and heaviest goth sound. Nowhere Land has a cohesive sound and the music is all on the same page, if you like one song you will like the whole album. Nowhere Land is a great album and will be highly sought after once the work gets out very much like their debut album. Stolen Body Records knows what heavy psych rocker want and releases great albums with awesome limited colored vinyl one after another. Now they just need some USA distribution so we can avoid the heavy shipping cost form over seas.

Karkara Nowhere Land

Great album it is a highlight in 2020 and give that world music psychedelic rock sound that has been hard to find. They nail it with their amazing tones and stop and start energy. There are no live shows right now but this band would make audiences freak-out!
