Plankton Wat – Future Times is meditative with layer guitars and droning instruments. This is the project of Portland musician Dewy Mahood of Eternal Tapestry. The album is inspired by the beautiful natural spaces in the North Western coast and the political overtones of 2020. The music is guitar driven with a rich backdrop of echoing, shimmering drone tones.
Plankton Wat – Future Times has dirty guitars that stay in the background creating texture and fuzz. clean guitars are upfront playing in an arpeggiated sequence with vast reverb. The bass lines are melodic and play perfectly with the layers of instrumentation. The is little percussion on the album. The synth and mellotron sounds on Future Time are rich and satisfying hinting at the 70s kraut scene in Berlin.
Plankton Wat – Future Times is a cool album with awesome sounds that get weird and are always interesting. It’s an enjoyable mix of kosmische krautrock and psychedelic rock. The album will appeal to fans of Prana Crafter, New Sounds Of Soma, Tangerine Dream, and Eternal Tapestry.
