Moon Attendant One Last Summer

8 / 10 Psychedelic Pop

Moon Attendant One Last Summer was released on August 28th 2020 on Big Potato Records.

Moon Attendant One Last Summer is a psychedelic pop adventure with catchy vocal melodies, psyched up production with far-out effects and synth. The psychedelic music bops along with uplifting and longing songs that feel like a summers day with enticing dreamy sounds. The overall sound is impressive, well done and will bring the listener back again and again. In fact, the more I listen, the higher rating I give the album! : )

It’s rare to find psychedelic music with such pop appeal but don’t be fooled One Last Summer is a sophisticated album that strikes a very difficult balance between pop and underground psychedelic music.

Moon Attendant is from Brighton, UK and they count Neil Halstead and Ian McCutcheon of Slowdive among their members. This is an exciting new band and One Last Summer is a striking debut album. The album comes out on Big Potato Records a independent label run by musicians, artists and writers.

One Last Summer is an impressive debut, the first single is “Hot Power“. It comes on with a driving fuzz guitar, organ and echoing vocals. The vocal cuts in and the chorus make me want to dance. It brings to mind the melodies of Temples mixed with the arrangements of Wooden Shjips a winning combination!

The album has awesome guitars, keyboards, organs and synth with forward vocals. The vocals have a lot of variety in production. At times they are clean and straightforward while other times they are backed with layers of harmonies or strange effects.

The band has a tendency toward fun transitions with instruments coming in and out of the mix, they build up with instrumentation and then stripping back to highlight one or two instruments.

Moon Attendant One Last Summer is a lot of fun!!
