Tombstone Eyes Land In The Sky

7.5 / 10 Space Stoner Rock

Tombstone Eyes are from Chicago, IL USA playing heavy psychedelic rock with chugging riffs, ripping echoing guitar solos and reverb drenched vocals. The music combines classic 1970’s heavy metal with prog space rock, vintage garage rock and psychedelic stoner rock.

Tombstone Eyes Land In The Sky was released on January 1st 2020 on Akashic Records Unlimited on limited edition vinyl, stream and download.

Land In The Sky has sci-fi themes especially on the 16 minute track “Solar Barge” which pushes the listener through the earth atmosphere into the darkness of the cosmos.

Tombstone Eyes‘s line-up is Brownstone on Bass, Organ, Synth & Vocals; John Brown blasting out the lead guitar, Mustafa Daka drums & percussion and Jason Sipe on the crunchy rhythm guitar. They released their first informal demos in 2018 and Eyes Land In The Sky is their first full length album. It is a very strong debut with high quality production, mix and master for a smooth gritty listening experience that shines in a quality stereo setup. The album was mastered by Carl Saff and produced by band member Brownstone and Engineer Mike Lust.

Tombstone Eyes are sticking to a well worn formula in the heavy psychedelic rock scene but do so with seamless execution. They demonstrate the familiar distorted crunching guitars, burning hot tube amps, slamming percussion, exciting guitar solos and sinister organ and sci-fi synth. The integration of vintage tones give the music warmth and character that is in contrast to the highly produced smooth tones of popular heavy blues and heavy metal bands. The additional raw grit of their distortion and the vintage organ bring all the vintage psychedelic vibes of Blue Cheer and Black Sabbath. Their doom stoner rock sections capitalize on the slow slamming bass and guitar riffage of stoner rock legends Sleep.
