Shem II is a kraut rock album with long tracks, spaced out sounds and motorik drive. The guitars are wildly effected with deep echo, fuzz and modulation. The steady tight rhythms build the template for far-out guitar lines. II has an in-the-moment sound with collaborative resonance and slow burn aesthetic.
Shem is from Stuttgart, Germany their first debut album The Hill AC was self- released in July of 2018 followed by Live at Nachtsicht Festival 2018 and self-release from January 2019. Their last album was No Songs, Just Sound a strong album with long tracks, dynamic arc and exciting sonic textures. II continues with the bands clear evolution with some fo the best music yet from this emerging band.
Shem II is a spacey album with a focus on effects, artist noise, new sounds and experimentation. Their songs build intensity and density as the layers of effects build and the drums become harder and more complex. They are echo freaks and use the echo units as instruments to build their tone.
Shem II will appeal to fans of Psychic Lemon, Lamagaia, and other underground psyched out noisy krautrock and space rock.
Shem II takes the space rock and noise kraut into spaces that are twisted garage rock in the vein of Baby Grandmothers. Whereas many bands in this sub-genre steer toward heavy psych and stoner sounds Shem stays experimental and spacey and avoids slamming heavy stoner riffs and distortion. They focus on psychedelic effects and the dynamics of clean overdriven tones to complex and unique sounds.
Shem II has section with heavy distortion layered with resinous effects and filter sweeps. They break through in the art noise rock genre and sail from there in space rock sounds. The drive of the music is never lost and the instrumental journey is dynamic, and progressive keep the sound exciting. The synth effects are used of texture and backdrops with bubbling tones, heavily modulated and pitch shifted sounds and a few blip and bops that are sci-fi cell phone sounds. They have no fear of using feedback as an instrument and break into droning sections of harmonic feedback. They develop a similar effect by turning the delay and echo to max and fast picking through intense oscillation.
Shem II is a a great pleasure to listen to and will appeal to space rockers and psych noise rock lovers everywhere. Buy this ticket and you will take a ride!! : )

I am so happy that the page is becoming a place for like mind to connect on creative projects and developing connections. There are several labels who follow the page and who have let me know they discovered new bands on my site. Musicians contact me all the time expressing appreciation for helping them find new music and connecting them with others who can help with projects. How am I doing you ask? I am well Looking for more opportunities to share my creative talents. I have been writing a new album for my psychedelic rock band Black Satori, we have some exciting news coming soon! I finished up a home recorded full-length solo album and I am determining how to release it to the world. Its a folk rock album with some psychedelic vibes. My other solo albums can be found under Temple Rose. I have a several opportunities to contribute guitar, voice, and synth to a few project around the world including Wildwood Morning and The Cult of Lunar Shamans. Looking forward to sharing those as well.
