Acid Mothers Temple Live Levitation Session is a cosmic acid freakout from the legendary psychedelic rock band lead by guitarist Kawabata Makoto. The music is heavy, fast and wickly wild. They have all out climaxes with Kawabata’s unique and explosive freakout guitar style. The album is not all molten lava but has slower valleys with etheric atmospheres with soft vocals and sci-fi sound effects. Acid Mothers Temple Live Levitation Session starts out with an explosion of weird and full spectrum sound. It soon breaking into a repeating riff backed with blinking and chirping theramin like synth. This cosmic synth sound is a distinctive sound in this bands music. The singer enters with the tone of a lost psychedelic folk singer. The lead guitar kicks on with distorted fuzz riffs giving the music a heavier stoner vibe. The contrast of the vocals and guitars fits perfectly in the mix. clean guitars and distorted riffs that use repetitive stoned out tones blend together making music that brings the listener into the world of AMT.
Acid Mothers Temple excels at starting slower and droning with a celestial vibe and then slowly intensifying until it reaches heights that no other band can replicate. This band is experienced and has released hundreds of albums over the years and many of the newest releases are some of the best, arguably. This album has the band at full power with the long pandemic stalling their world tours there is a reserve of energy released on this live session. The recording quality is impeccable and sounds much like a studio album. The performance is wild and experimental as one would expect from Acid mothers Temple.
