Cancervo 1 is the debut release, out February 26th 2021 on LP in a variety of editions. 150 Green Vinyl, 120 Transparent Vinyl, and 30 Mountain Edition).
Cancervo I
Cancervo 1 is heavy instrumental music with stoner riffs, doom and sabbath rock. loaded with 70s rock inspirations and psychedelic mystical visions. The guitars use heavy distortion with richly textured tones. The bass and drums are tight with a robust low end. The album has a tribal groove that is entrancing. They balance between heavy riffs, progressive passages and clean sections, building up and pulling back.
Cancervo 1 is a great album with raw tones and interesting music. The songs play as compositions with in the totality of the album with an unbroken line from start to finish. The songs continue to evolve and change and the album has enough variety to keep the instrumental music in the flow.
Cancervo is driven by the rhythm. The guitars, drums and bass all punch along with precision. The slower pace of their songs deceives the listener into believing the rhythmic structure is simple. They transition smoothly between cleaner ominous sections into massive stoner rock riffs. The music takes sometime to stay in-touch with the Earth as well as outer space.
Cancervo dedicated each song to various places and the myth and folklore of the region. Cancervo is the name of a local mountain. The band stays close to its Italian roots and makes great heavy rock.
Cancervo 1 is an awesome album it balances the heavy and the light tones. They create pleasing valleys with cleaner tones and lighter percussion and then launch into heavy rock distortion and harder drums. The heavy sections have a raw sight out of the amp sound much like a live performance but with cleaner drums and balanced instruments. They succeed at making an album that stands apart for other similar bands. The creative drive and compositions are inspired and edgy.
Electric Valley Records, out of Italy has been releasing great music for years and you got to pick up some of their releases. I want to thank them for turning me on to this album.
