Trigona Releases New Space Rock, Psych Rock from Australia

Trigona

Trigona released their self titled album on April 5th 2022 on grey and white splatter vinyl limited edition of 200 from Worst Bassist (Eu) and Echodelick Records (USA).

Trigona combines elements of psych, space rock, and post rock featuring instrumental music with a motorik beat. Rob Shields is the one man band behind Trigona. The songs were recorded in Queensland, Australia starting in 2020. The music has fuzz guitars with echo and reverb edging toward space rock leads. The foundation is driving drums and bass with a steady beat in classic krautrock style. The guitar takes the forward position in the mix with rhythm and lead guitars playing off one another with jamming lead lines.

The music on this self-titled album has a lead back sound with a positive tone. The songs are instrumental with jamming leads and juicy fuzz guitar tones that push toward progressive rock. Repeating riffs move the songs forward and become themes that bring the listener back from Trigona’s space rock explorations. The songs build slowly with great guitar sounds and some progressive synth for a futuristic enhancement.

Trigona is clearly built around the guitar riffs allowing the lead guitar lines to transmit the melody while the bass and rhythm guitars drive the motorik beats. The songs transition smoothly between one another and the album plays much like one long composition with various sections. The cohesive arc of the album with the repeating rhythms make for a smooth slow burn listening experience. The tones are texture and considered. The songs loop and rock with memorable guitar solos.
