The Holy Family of the UK is a spacey droning album with charming soundscapes that are weird, soaring and always interesting. The band thrives in strange sonic spaces that are filled with unique tones and instruments. The vocals have dense reverb and are layered with several overlapping vocal lines. There are synths, energized percussion that is often not a drum kit, driving bass and more. The music immediately makes the listener think “this is cool and different”.
The Holy Family has managed to avoid fitting into a specific genre and traveled their own path. The music is very psychedelic and feels like a cult gathering of tryptamine seekers wearing white robes and chanting with a vintage charm. The freedom expressed through the songs is infectious, the music feel earthy and multidimensional in a new age sense. They are not similar to any band but perhaps might be inline with Cerberus Shoal, early Animal Collective, Yahowah 13, with elements of kosmische.
The Holy Family has made a spacial album that is meditative and psychedelic. The hand percussion makes it feel like people in a circle jamming out at a LSD party. The music is both of the earth and expressing journeys to the stars. The Holy Family says they feel the music is like a psychedelic murder tale. I feel like the music is a psychedelic free music circle with a few talented musicians who catch mystical vibes along the way. The write up on their bandcamp page covers some of the film and literary influences for the album. There is no doubt that this is an artistic and conceptual album with a clear arc and theme running through the album however, it seems no one knows the real story including the band. Perhaps you can find your own narrative with-in the spectral resonance.
The Holy Family is a very cool album that is very unique and wonderful. This could easily fall between the cracks only to be discovered years later when a new music has emerged or it could be a favorite of 2021 for many psych drone heads. Either way this is a special album that you should listen to. Also be sure to support the artists and labels who make the music possible. Without there the music would never had existed.

The Psych Rock is here to promote awesome underground music that is wildly creative. The page is a one person operation and I want to thank everyone who has helped keep me motivated with your great music and awesome promos. Many thanks to all the viewers how have check out the page I hope you found a bunch of new and awesome music. 2020 was a good year for the page because I was stuck at home and I listened to all the music and discovered new music continuously. I have been a bit busy but doing my best to keep on top of the new releases and the many great artists and labels who take the time to send me emails.
How am I doing you ask? I am well Looking for more opportunities to share my creative talents. I have been writing a new album for my psychedelic rock band Black Satori, we have some exciting news coming soon! I finished up a home recorded full-length solo album and I am determining how to release it to the world. Its a folk rock album with some psychedelic vibes. My other solo albums can be found under Temple Rose. I have been writing for POWmagazine.org which has been a delight. I am finding new hobbies and looking for more work as well. So it has been difficult to keep up but I appreciate all your support!
