Sula Bassana Loop Station Drones is droning, experimental krautrock album with drawn out atmospheres, psychedelic underground vibrations and beat machines. The Motorik beats and richly textured synth sounds are innovative and retro. This is some of the best solo acid drone rock out of Europe.
Sula Bassana Loop Station Drones is the work of one man Sula Bassana. The album was recorded with very little overdubs using guitar, loop stations, drum machine, Roland synths and organ. Loop Station Drones is an impressive feat with so many varied sounds overlapped in real time. The drones run up to 20 minutes in length making for great background music for artistic and visionary explorations. The songs have an electronic music quality that combines with the naturalist space rock guitars and humming organs.
Sula Bassana also known as Dave Schmidt is best known for his role in Electric Moon a well known underground acid space rock band in Germany. He also has played in or appeared on albums by Interkosmos, Krautzone, Liquid Visions, Zone Six and more. All these bands specialize in farout psychedelia derived from kosmische and krautrock. He is also the man behind the curtain at Sulatron Records home to incredible psych music.
Sula Bassana Loop Station Drones has tracks that range from 70s popal vuh soundscapes to heavy psych space rock. The variety makes this long selection of music engaging from start to finish. The guitars get wild and hot with space rock solos and crazy effects. The phasing and droning tones all melt together like a liquid light show. The shifting and moving sounds breath and pulse like a jellyfish in the waves. fuzzy guitar riffs blend with droning modulating oscillators and driving electronic drum programs. This album has plenty that Electric Moon fan will enjoy.
