Sonic Boom Almost Nothing Is Nearly Enough is the latest release from musician and producer Sonic Boom AKA Peter Kember of Spacemen 3. Sonic Boom has been credited with production on over 100 albums and this album shows off his incredible talent for production and songwriting. The songs are inspiring, positive, droning and upbeat with psychedelic electronics. Skillfully implemented sound design with strange effects injected into the every cell of the mix. The effects are never offensive or out of place, they create a sonic space that is cosmic, warm, and flowing. Sonic Boom creates music that is unlike anything else in all the best ways.
Sonic Boom Almost Nothing Is Nearly Enough is a remix of the 2020 album All Things Being Equal which appears on The Psych Rock’s best of 2020 list. This version is just as wonderful as the original. The charm of the songs and the inspirational lyrics and melodies are intact with a new sound. ‘Just Imagine‘ and ‘On A Summers Day‘ are more stripped down and focused on the foundational instrumentation and the produced vocal. The songs benefit from the simpler arrangement and added sequences.
Sonic Boom Almost Nothing Is Nearly Enough overall, is perhaps a bit better than the original, depends on your mood that day. The remix is the work of Sonic Boom and the songs have depth and brilliant sound quality. The album contains a new track as well ‘Tick Tick‘ which is trippy and fits the album flow perfectly.
Sonic Boom is Peter Kember who is a pioneer of psychedelic rock, space rock, noise rock art rock, electronic rock. He was a founder of Spacemen 3 which was founded in the UK in 1982. They are known for making music unlike anything else. It was loud, edgy, noisy with electronic sounds. They also had album which were more atmospheric. He also started Spectrum, E.A.R. and is the producer on hundreds of albums. All Things Being Equal was the first Sonic Boom solo album since 1989. The album was critically acclaimed and received a warm reception from the music community with multiple reissues in various colors and special packaging. Now Almost Nothing Is Nearly Enough brings the visual packaging to a new high with all the extras and colored vinyl along with equally compelling music.
Sonic Boom Almost Nothing Is Nearly Enough is an awesome album and it will likely make my end of the year best list. Firstly, I was a huge fan of All Things Being Equal secondly because this is not a normal remix its highly inspired. Many remixes I hear are trying to change the music so much that the song is lost in a sea of cuts and effects. This album re-imagines the original songs in ways that keep the music intact and shine a different light upon it. I am torn as to which is better and I am leaning toward Almost Nothing Is Nearly Enough. I will be listening to this album again and again.

How am I doing you ask? I am well Looking for more opportunities to share my creative talents. I have been writing a new album for my psychedelic rock band Black Satori, we have some exciting news coming soon! I finished up a home recorded full-length solo album and I am determining how to release it to the world. Its a folk rock album with some psychedelic vibes. My other solo albums can be found under Temple Rose. I have been writing for POWmagazine.org which has been a delight. I am finding new hobbies and looking for more work as well. So it has been difficult to keep up but I appreciate all your support!
