Flying Moon In Space – Tight Space Kraut Electro Rock

Flying Moon In Space

Flying Moon In Space was released on December 4th 2020 on Fuzz Club Records on deluxe gatefold, standard vinyl and download.

Flying Moon In Space

Flying Moon In Space is a from Germany and the music is true to their own vision of kraut rock and psychedelic space rock. The self-titled album is hypnotic with clean echoing tones, rhythmic vocals and motorik beats. They develop their songs through live improvisations and explore new sonic possibilities. They are influenced by CAN, Neu!, and are committed to echoing kraut rock with live instruments bordering on electronic music.

Flying Moon In Space has impressive guitar playing layered in echo and reverb. The riffs are mostly clean and played with precise rhythm. The bass and drum are locked-in with tight drive. The bass guitar is forward in the mix and gives the music strong low end pulse. The bass lines are fast, complex and so tight that they boarder on a electronic sound.

Flying Moon In Space has great approach to vocals that is clearly influenced by CAN’s Damo Suzuki but much more mellow and focused with shimmering reverb. The album has a more open sound than many other groups in their genre. The clean guitars and the thoughtful compositions give the music breathing room and an openness. The sound is atmospheric while being rock and groove oriented.

Flying Moon In Space can walk the tightrope between rock, shoegaze and krautrock unlike any other band I have heard. The guitars can be in space rock mode or move toward a post-punk staccato rhythm. The effects on the instruments are very intentional and well-placed. The focus on rhythm makes the music easy to dance to and will keep your feet moving.

Flying Moon In Space is a great album! It’s a wonderful surprise debut from a band.
