Best New Psych Rock Artists 2020
This post features the new artist to emerge in 2020 psychedelic rock. These are new artist that have released 1 or 2 albums or have only released music the last 1 to 2 years. 2020 was an incredible year for psych music and this celebrates music as one of the few great things about 2020.
This years new artist list has incredible music on it. These new artists are going to change the game and are already having a fresh injection of ideas into the various psych rock genres. with over 170 articles this year I no doubt missed out on some bands along the way and I will be updating the list as new artists from 2020 come into my awareness.
The list is weighted with my favorites toward the top but I cannot in good conscious apply a numerical progression. The first bunch are all number 1 and depending on the day any of these bands could be my music of choice. Dig in find new music that fits your uniqueness and support the artist. : )

Turtle Skull
Turtle Skull‘s debut full length album Monoliths from Sydney, Australia is a great album. The music is powerful with dual vocals and harmonizing guitars. The combine space rock, stoner, heavy psych and psychedelic rock together with meaningful lyrics. The album is amazing one of my favorites of the year.
White Canyon and The 5th Dimension
White Canyon & The 5th Dimension’s first album is incredible coming to us from Brazil. They have a expansive sound that uses clean guitar tones, full bass lines and steady drumming. The songs blend kraut and garage rock with unconventional song structures and deep reverb and don’t worry the guitars get heavy and fuzz too!
Marmalade Knives
Marmalade Knives from California, Santa Cruz play psychedelic rock that gets spacey and integrates in eastern scales This is their first album and it is a good one. They play with fuzz, synth and acid improvisational jams. The sounds goes wild and weird while holding down melodic riffs in the classic space prog style.
Tambourinen Wooden Flower
Tambourinen Wooden Flower is the first album from this solo act from the Northwest Coast USA. This album has organic drones and motorik rock with fuzz guitars and layered intrumentation that combines for fuzz out sounds. This is a solo project from a member fo The Myrrors so you know its going to be krautrock gooeyness.
The Pancakes
The Pancakes from Germany or not as nwe as they seem but it is the first full length from this band featuring members from Zone Six. Fuzz garage rock, space rock and 60s grace slick style vocals combine on this great album. The guitar tones and leads sound amazing with all the best psych tones. The album starts more garage and goes further into space.
Autotellia I
Autolellia I is experimental electronic with kosmische and krautrock. The album is the last from Tom Relleen of The Oscillation. The guitars melt into the layers of synth the sound is dreamy, cosmic, electronic and out of this world.
Melody Fields
Melody Feilds Broken Horse EP is the second EP from this Swedish band. They bring in 60s summer of love vocal harmonies, sitars, and garage rock with a retro vibe. This album is excellent an impressive outing for this new band.
Centre El Muusa
Centre El Muusa is spaced out krautrock from Estonia. Their album travels far touching on several genres of music from chilled out rock to improvised space rock. This is a unique album that carves its own niche in a wildly creative genre.
Aquarius Lux The Infinite Korridor
Aquarius Lux The Infinite Korridor is the debut album from space rock vintage synth fuzz group Aquarius Lux of the UK. These guys have spaced out rock that opens a hole in the sky.
Elon Musk As your Wanderer Taps At The Invisible Gate
Elon Musk As your Wanderer Taps At The Invisible Gate is a cosmic journey that slow burns through wonderful kosmische music until bout 20 minutes in when they start to kick on the space rock and gets doom by the end. This is the debut full length album or should I say debut 40 minute song from the band and is super cool.
Upupayāma
Upupayāma of Italy released its debut album on Bandcamp late in 2020. It is a acid folk psychedelic rock album that will appeal to fans of Kikagaku Moyo with eastern vibes and world music charm. The music is mellow folky with flute like synth, sitars, wah guitar and soft vocals.
Moon Attendant One Last Summer
Moon Attendant One Last Summer from the UK is a psychedelic indie shoegaze album that has sunshine melodies and upbeat arrangements. The band has members of Slow Dive and is packed with great melodies, layer arrangements and uplifting vibes,
Black Satori Lucy Lane
Black Satori Lucy Lane from Minneapolis, MN and San Francisco, California. This is an energized psychrock album with influence from alternative rock, space rock, and a strong garage rock sound. Fuzzy guitars, echoing vocals and extended jams stretch across the album with vintage psych, garage rock and proto-punk sounds.
Las Historias
Las Historias self titled debut is a banger. heavy low distroed bass and filtered fuzz guitar belt out stoner riffs the make Black Sabbath proud. They toss in plenty of Hendrix tinged heavy blues and smooth doubled stoner vocals. This bands raw energy came to create an awesome album with a straight from the amp feel.
The WRS
The WRS self titled debut full length album from Belgium is great Psychedelic garage rock with heavy Oh Sees vibes. They dip into their many influences from the psychedelic rock cosmology and bring them out with raw unrefined energy.
Kimono Drag Queens Songs Of Worship
Kimono Drag Queens Songs Of Worship from Sydney, Australia is a psych indie alternative garage rock album with sunshine vibes and dreamy songs. They kick in the fuzz at times and have great melodies in their songs.
Seven Planets Explorer
Seven Planets Explorer is the debut psychedelic space rock album from this West Virginia, USA band. With heavy riffs and spaced out guitar lines this band was a special surprise new artist of 2020.
Neon Lemon Look Outside
Neon Lemon Look Outside from Austin, Texas is a psychedelic rock album with vintage acid vibes and desert rock swagger. The vocals trail off into the wind swept desert-scapes and the fuzz guitar rips along with plenty of reverb, true to the genre. Get lit and turn Neon Lemon Look Outside on your stereo.
