Alison Cotton – Only Darkness Now is a beautiful album with droning harmonics and witchy unsettling atmospheres. The voice is layered with free harmonies with breathe with the harmoniums and other drone instruments to craft lust soundscapes. The cellos, viola, voice, keys build crystal clear tones which harmonize and shimmer into dissonance swells. A perfect soundtrack for lighting candles under the full moon and uniting with the spirits of nature.
Alison Cotton – Only Darkness Now is an acid folk experimental album with inspirations from the freak folk movement. The album will appeal to fans of Espers, Fursaxa, Fern Knight, Sharron Kraus, Valerie Project, Travelers Tau, Dire Wolves and other strange acid folk experiments. Alison Cotton takes that folk sound and polishes it up with a minimalist approach.
Alison Cotton – Only Darkness Now uses all organic instruments voices, strings, harmoniums and little to no percussion. The natural sounds are undeniably beautiful and atmospheric. The aire of sadness and darkness pervades the album like a dark cloud. Everything feel very intentional as the instrumentation comes together perfectly. The music is compositional and could easily be used as a sound track.

The minimalist appraoch to arrangement allows the beauty of the vibrations to carry the album. The viola with the layered and distant vocal harmonies opens vast spaces and rainy pastures. Nature shines through on Only Darkness Now. The Earthy pastoral textures of the album are soothing and melancholic.
