Kimono Drag Queens Songs of Worship
7.7 / 10 Alternative Psych From Sydney
Kimono Drag Queens Songs of Worship was released on November 6th of 2020, pre-sale on September 11th with limited edition colored vinyl on Copper Feast Records.
Kimono Drag Queens Songs of Worship is a fun packed with light hearted psychedelic alternative indie rock. They bring together fuzzed out garage lead guitars with melodic vocals and drumming that feels influenced by hand drumming and krautrock. There is a bit of African Desert blues in their sound giving it a bit of world flavor and sunshine.
Kimono Drag Queens Songs of Worship has great production and a clear sound with lush echo, reverb, punchy drums and skilled guitar playing with great tones. The songs are thoughtfully composed and balance free and wild garage rock tenancy with alternative indie pop rock melodies.
Kimono Drag Queens have a lot of variety on the album with 7 members in the band. The album contains many instruments and effects to keep the sound fresh from song to songs but their songwriting is consistent and the album flows together seamlessly. It embodies a magical free thinking approach to music that has been a staple in the psych scene with the bands Kikagaku Moyo, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Goat, and Here Lies Man.
Kimono Drag Queens are from Sydney, Australia and they formed in 2016. Songs Of Worship is their most powerful relic of sound to-date and you got to give it a listen!
