The new Detah Valley Girls album Under The Spell of Joy is amazing and the music video for Hypnagogia is very entertaining. The music is great with atmospheric droning from horns and keyboards. The powerhouse female vocals have plenty of backing giving it a shout out feel. The song is psychedelic and slithers through time and space. the guitars and drums kick in in full in the second half of the songs and rock.
The Death Valley Girls have taken a power rock sound that is both 1980s Joan Jet as much as it it innovative contemporary psychedelic grunge garage rock.

The video itself features shifting animations and visualization that are mysterious and symbolist. The flowing images seem to move with the droning vintage organ tones and feel magical. the moon shifting from dark to full the pagan goddess symbols being drawn. The Death Valley Girls are an all female band and they kick ass.
The video moves into geometric patterns and butterflys it feels very psychedelic and the song is mysterious. There really is no reason not to listen to this new labum as it very well will make many poeples best of the year lists and it debut on the Billboard top 100.
