Narco States
Temples Into Tombs
Narco States Temples Into Tombs from Pinata Records! is for hip-shakers and narcotic troublemakers. Garage rock sublime with 60’s style organs, ripping guitar lines, and a raucous frontman, Michael Meyer. The blend of punk and psychedelic 60’s is an electrifying experience start to finish; think The Doors, Rolling Stones and psychedelic punk rock making sonic love all over the fucking stage.
“Met Tet” oozes 60’s psychedelia with grooving organ and garage rock rhythms. “Jealousy” laces dark-surf into rhythm and blues. The catchy vocals give a kick in the gut to the “technocratic bourgeoisie”. “Sympathy for the Dealer” has Detroit rock all over it with shouted vocals and a wild psychedelic build-up.
Temples Into Tombs is the follow-up album to Wicked Sun and their second full-length release. Available in limited edition black vinyl on Pinata Records! The Narco States is a five-piece band from Minneapolis, MN formed in 2012. The first full-length Wicked Sun is also a great album, the music curls through the air like incense, a witchy-haze vibe casts its spells, accented with driven punk rock. Temples Into Tombs is a step-up in sound quality, song composition, and strikes a balance between 60’s psychedelic garage rock and all out in your face rock and roll.
Narco States Temples Into Tombs is an exciting album from a band who seems to have found their sound. The music remains interesting from start to finish. Micheal Meyer’s vocal delivery is powerful, raw, and lyrically interesting. The organ has an authentic 1960’s sound, driving many of the tracks. Nate McGuire’s guitar leads the charge with raw, tone crunching sounds. I have no complaints about this album, in fact, its great.
