Best albums of 2016
2016 recap:
Music in 2016 was amazing! It was an exciting year for the psych scene where reverb soaked guitars with vintage sounds in mainstream music. The underground bands are getting bigger and their tours are getting more crowded. The trend of American psych bands having great tours in Europe continues as even smaller bands are now playing their music abroad.
The Biggest success for the psych scene was Desert Daze Music Festival in Joshua Tree California. It showcased 88 bands many from the west coast, specifically L.A. The list of bands was amazing including Thee Oh Sees, Black Angels, Godspeed You Black emperor, Television, L.A. Witch, La Luz, Night Beats, Brain Jonestown Massacre and many more. It was a multimedia art festival with a emphasis on great music for music lovers. Everyone is looking forward to next year.
On the downside of the scene is Levitation, formerly known as Austin Psych Fest was cancelled due to weather. The organization has announced no Levitation 2017; big time loss for this music community.
